--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's that time of year. The summer is almost over and the excitement of the new school year is upon us.
Unlike Scouts, Venturing is a self run program. The youth do all the organising, and the adults are Venture Advisor.
We are there to assist, guide and provide the leadership, but the key to a successful Venture Company is the drive and motivation of the youth themselves.

Venturers (Scouts Canada) are young men and women ages 14-17.
The Venturer program, unlike the Scout program, is predominantly run as a Company which is what a venturer group is referred to.
This means everything is done with the say of all members of the group.
The Venturer motto is "Challenge" and this is applied to the activities of a Venturer company on a regular basis, exploring new and interesting things.
Venturers may meet at frequent or infrequent times to discuss the goings on of the group, to schedule camps, or to set up fund-raisers.
While not limited to these, these are some common actions that a venturer group may choose or choose not to do.
Meeting places are not limited to a centralized location; each venturer may host the rest of the group for a meeting at their place of residence.
Wearing of the uniform is not as strict as with scouts, and although encorage, is typically not mandatory for regular meetings. The uniform, similar to the scout uniform, but with differant ephalets, is worn for formal or public activities, depending on situation.
Venturer companies are usually structured with an Executive, composed of President, Secretary, and Treasurer, and may also include a Quartermaster depending on the group's size and equipment needs.
Outdoor activities may be, but are not limited to: rafting, canoing, and kayaking in white water, mountain climbing, laser tag, and camping in the rough (forest area, or otherwise).
Other activities to consider are mountain biking, rock-climbing, and kayaking. These are just a few of the adventures we'll tackle.
You'll enjoy outdoor adventures as part of a team, working together with other young people to accomplish thrilling challenges, while learning to work as a team, as a Company, and as an individual.
Venturing gives every member a chance to be a leader. It might involve running an activity, organizing a camp, or
participating with other young people across your province, Canada or even internationally in a youth forum.
