February 4

Meeting called to order: 7:45pm

Discipline Youth and You

·      2 hour-ish course on how to deal with conflict resolution in a peaceful manner

·      Will be held on the first Monday in March at Cranley

·      This is a free event

·      Highly suggested that you be there

Rovent

·      We can get red clown noses and go as clown fish

·      Miss Strawberry Flats

o   Must audition afternoon before competition

o   Must have a talent and be prepared to answer questions in front of the judges

·      Drop backpacks off the Wednesday before camp

·      There will be a duty roster for camp made up on the first day of camp

There is a food planning meeting at Camp McLean for Rovent at 7:30pm on Monday February 2. If you want a say in the menu, it is advised that you be there.

Rovent

·      Each person that was at the bottle drive can use their $44 share to do to Rovent

·      We are using bottle drive funds to subsidize some of the costs. (Note: only those who come to the bottle sort can access these funds)

Rovent

·      February 20-22 at Manning Park

·      Are we prepared?

·      Leaving Friday Feb. 20 at noon (try to get out of school early)

·      We need drivers

·      We will be camping with 2nd Aldergrove

o   We should meet with them to organize things

·      Registration is $22 per person plus food (may be a $45-$50 camp)

o   Part or whole may be subsidized (see motion below)

Dock Visit

·      We have the possible opportunity to visit a dock

Christmas Camp

·      December 19-20

·      Meet at Camp McLean at 5:45pm for set up

·      Reviewed electronics – everyone in agreement

·      Movies – Christmas Vacation, Dark Knight, Step Brothers, Billy Madison

·      Pizzas – Cheese, Pepperoni, Ham and Pineapple, Supreme

·      Pancakes and sausages for breakfast

·      Bring your sleeping bag and a mat

·      Bring your own drinks (no 2 liters or energy drinks – they will be taken away)

·      Juice will be provided

Hours and Credits

·      4 service hours for the Santa Breakfast

·      Record any other hours

·      4 school credits for your Chief Scout Award – talk to your councilor

·      Suggested to start on the Personal Interest badge, ie. Reading the requirements

Duke of Edinburgh Award

·      We have completed most of the Bronze level already

Rainbucket

·      We will plan food on Wednesday

·      Shelter has been built, so now we have a place to cook out of the weather

·      $45 per person due on November 12 (this coming Wednesday)

·      Chas’s Mom can only drive us up there, so we need a parent or two, depending on the size of vehicle, to drive us home. If your parent is willing to drive, please let Scouter Dallas know ASAP


October 22

Cabaret

·      Great trip overall

·      We will go over the test for approximately the first 10-15 minutes of each meeting for the next few weeks

·      The pictures will be on the website under the Venturers tab

Rainbucket

·      Still a go

·      The theme may change because some people think that the term ‘Redneck’ is offensive

·      Thus, meaning that the scavenger hunt may change

·      How are we going to get there?

o   Scouter Rob can take 3 or 4 plus towing the trailer

o   Scouter Dallas can take 3

o   Chas has volunteered his parents to drive which will be able to take 5 or 6 people

·      We are looking at the following costs

o   $22 camp fee

o   $20 food fee

o   This camp cost will be around the $40-$45 range

·      More notice to come closer to the event

Shelter

·      The leader are building a portable shelter made out of pipe, rope and a tarp

·      The shelter will be about 24-25 feet long, 9-10 feet high, and 12 feet wide

·      Rotary building at Camp McLean

·      Approximately 100 Beavers

·      We have hired a Santa

·      We will be having a Venturer meeting at Cranley Place to discuss the breakfast at a later date

·      1st Semi and 10th White Rock are confirmed to help

·      10th White Rock Venturers are all certified with Food Safe, so they will be doing the cooking

Rainbucket

·      Quartermaster is filling out the registration form for the next meeting

·      Some ‘redneck’ themed items have been donated to help us decorate our patrol box

Scout Christmas Camp

·      The Scouts have invited the other Scout groups in the peninsula to join them at their Christmas Camp on December 20+21

·      Our Venturer Company has been asked to volunteer as crowd control and cooks

·      After our lessons, there is talk of having a Venturer golf tournament
